Celebrating Motherhood, Building Connections

Hey BBU HUB! Today, we’re shining a light on the incredible Sawubona Sisterhood. Founded in 2023 by the amazing Seshen Kamau M.Ed, NBC-HWC, this nonprofit is all about creating the supportive community that every melanated mama needs.

Meet Seshen and the Vision

Seshen’s vision is simple yet powerful: to create a space where Black mothers can feel truly seen and heard. Sawubona Sisterhood is dedicated to celebrating the beautiful journey of motherhood while addressing the unique challenges that come with it.

Why This Matters

Their mission is to make sure every Black mother—regardless of income, age, or profession—has access to the healthy and happy pregnancy and birthing experience she deserves. It’s all about building connections and supporting each other in a meaningful way.
