Meet the Founder: Kelsey Dorsey, RD, IBCLC

Kelsey Dorsey, the passionate founder of The Mother’s Peace, brings a wealth of personal experience and professional expertise to her work. From Atlanta, Georgia, Kelsey’s life is filled with family, music, and simple joys—whether it’s dancing, tackling 1000-piece puzzles, or roller-skating. She finds special comfort in deep cleaning to the tunes of 90s R&B, which she says adds a little extra spark to her life.

Kelsey’s journey into birth work began with the birth of her first son, Kyle, who tragically passed away from RSV at 17 months old in 2015. This loss ignited a calling to support other mothers. In May 2020, she welcomed her second son through a successful home birth during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, an experience that deepened her commitment to birth work. During quarantine, Kelsey became a certified doula, further inspired by her own breastfeeding journey to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2022.

As a registered dietitian, IBCLC, and both birth and postpartum doula, Kelsey has since helped over two dozen families navigate the challenges of new parenthood. In addition to her practice, she is the author of a recipe book filled with go-to breastfeeding and postpartum meals, which focuses on building healthy eating habits and gaining adequate caloric intake for healing. With a focus on supporting women of color, Kelsey aims to provide compassionate, well-rounded care to women of all backgrounds, knowing firsthand the critical importance of education and empowerment in maternity care.
